Defra’s UK INSPIRE Project and the AGI INSPIRE SIG hosted a workshop in London on Monday, 12th August 2013 to help individuals to learn more about INSPIRE and to get hands-on support.
The turnout was very good as there were over 50 delegates in attendance who were from a range of organisations including Local Councils, Universities and GI Businesses.
The day included presentations on a range of topics and a group discussion in the afternoon to discuss how prepared delegate’s organisations are for INSPIRE and what opportunities they see coming out of INSPIRE.

Throughout the day delegates, took the opportunity to ask questions they needed answer, share their thoughts, give input on where their organisations are with INSPIRE and raise any concerns or issues they were facing. There was also lots of time for network with other delegates.
The results from the feedback were very positive. The attendees felt that the information provided to them was very beneficial and will take away the knowledge that they have gained to other members of their organisation.
From all the discussions and presentations that took place, it is widely evident that although progress has been made by organisations to be compliant, there is still work to be done. The UK INSPIRE Project Team will be looking to run more of these events in the future and in the mean time, will continue to support organisations through their INSPIRE journey.
